There are five different activity types available to create. This is to provide a varied and stimulating learning experience, keeping learners engaged and cater for different learning styles.
Text Activity - can be used as a simple text overview or to give an instruction to be actioned and confirmed through a ‘Mark as complete’ button. E.g. a manager meeting or classroom workshop where the participant would mark as complete once attended
Form Activity - a variety of answer types can be used to elicit responses, such as free-text entry, checkbox lists, and file upload. The activity is completed when the learner has completed their responses and submitted the form.
Two Part Form Activity – a second form for the approver of the activity to complete once the learner has submitted their part. This can be used to encourage specific, guided and constructive feedback from the supporting members of the hub and discourages the generic "Well done" response.
Package Activity - this is used to embed SCORM-compliant third party content, typically e-learning modules. You have the option to embed this within the window of the platform or in a new window.
Quiz Activity - compile multiple choice questions and set a pass mark to test the learner's understanding of content they have learned. Clicking the 'Start activity' button would open the quiz and present each question to the learner one by one.
Link Activity - launch of an external URL or file attachment where the activity is automatically marked as completed once the page has been visited.
Of these types, forms (including two-part) are the most interactive and should be used to stimulate conversations within the performance hub. This helps differentiate learning that is merely consumed (and too often forgotten or otherwise not put into practice) from learning that is negotiated, discussed, applied and put to good use in the workplace. The more food for thought you put in your forms, the better the interaction will be.
Also, don't forget to invite your participants to comment on activities where appropriate.
